Recognition of foreign certificates and courses
Candidates who are working in Switzerland at the time of the start of ultrasound training must complete the training according to the Swiss training curriculum (recognized basic courses and advanced courses can be conducted abroad; final course and final examination must always be conducted in Switzerland; with regard to supervisions and training time until the final examination, the regulations apply).
Candidates who are not working in Switzerland at the time of starting the ultrasound training:
- with recognized completed foreign diploma (inquiry necessary): with recognized basic, advanced and final course and 200 supervisions + 200 independent tutor-controlled examinations: still need SGUM final course and final examination.
- with recognized basic, advanced and final course but without supervisions: need 200 supervisions with a SGUM tutor + 200 independent SGUM tutor-controlled examinations; as well as SGUM final course and final examination.
Recognition of foreign courses for the acquisition of the certificate of competence SGUM Musculoskeletal Section in Switzerland
- Foreign courses must meet minimum requirements to be recognized (see below criteria for recognition of courses).
- In principle, only equivalent basic and advanced courses are recognized.
- If you would like to take a basic or advanced course abroad, it is mandatory to apply for recognition of the course prior to the course.
- Otherwise, the same regulations regarding supervision, independent examinations, examinations according to the regulations apply.
Practical procedure:
- Please fill out the online form "Request for recognition of non-section courses" completely.
- If a course is recognized: Please send the course certificate by e-mail after the course.
Recognition of a completed certified foreign course (DEGUM, ÖGUM, others) with diploma
- You have a federal medical diploma or a federally recognized foreign medical diploma.
- In order to be able to apply for the SGUM Certificate of Competence in Musculoskeletal Medicine, you must complete the final course and final examination in Switzerland.
- The required supervisions and independent examinations are not required.
- Training is only recognized if the applicant has also worked in the corresponding country with an ultrasound diploma during the time of the training.
- If the basic and advanced course is carried out abroad, the supervisions between the courses must nevertheless be carried out or made up for according to our regulations.
- Supervisions are only recognized if they have been certified and controlled by a tutor or supervisor of SGUM Musculoskeletal.
